project : how to make a cake without an oven , vol I

hey hey
I still don't have an oven.so I need to figure out other possibilities to "bake".
my first atempt is a microwave cake. it's so easy and so fast... but taste like airplane-food. which means not very good. but i won't give up, i keep you updated with my other experiments.
it was ok though with mascarpone, kiwi and honey.

for the rest i have been buzzy watching the gras grow.
i tried to be a good plant mum, and for once it worked out. it grows and grows, in the weekend i will have my first sandwich with cress!!!
spring is coming! It's my mantra at those grey days.

see you soon at oure stich and bitch

LOOK... SPRING

hey,
i just let thos pics speak for themselves...

kisses m.
how many nights to sleep till your birthday?

P: pants, progress.

My dear S.,

I finally have my own sewing machine, juppie! It's a Christmas present from my parents. I chose a rather basic but trustworthy Singer machine. Of course, I needed to try it out directly. Right now I'm finishing my copy of your little black dress. It is almost finished, the seaming still needs to be done, plus some other details. Photo will follow this week! I feel that I'm getting more and more insight into the whole sewing stuff, makes me happy :)
So much for the progress part.
Now for the pants (which also count as progress, since they are the first pants I ever made for myself that are actually wearable):
Last year, I decided to make a skirt. It was awful. So went to J. and M., who had a god laugh at me and my awfully bulky skirt. Then they took the fabric away, and schnipp-schnapp cut the pattern for shorts out of it. I didn't touch the bag with the fabric any more until about two weeks ago. Then I made the shorts. And here they are:

I am so happy with how they turned out!

Uni has started again. The first week is always exciting, since I don't really like being in the classrooms of our Uni... so far, it was ok. This semester I have an entire course on Samuel Beckett- looking forward to it!

A small sententence from a fantastic book I just finished, Michael Cunningham's "A Home at the End of the World":
I was vaguely ashamed and lonely, yet pleased with myself simply for being alive; for surviving into the future.

just that. randomly.

Love!

lazy duckling sunday..

dear m.,
i got my dose of nature i was craving for.

today it was so nice to drive with you, n. and the two men into the nature to get an exclusive duck tour.
it was a real winterday and it was really good that you made coffe to keep us a bit warm. even if we were properly wraped in layers of clothing the cold got to us... .

here are some pics we tried to make through the monoculars ( a singel glas binoculare, no idea how to all it) . it was harder than i thought it would be.

usually i recognize ducks just as a duck on the water not knowing that there are so amny types and colours in ther featherdresses.

and also some kind of fungus ( well it`s not really a fungus i just don't know how it' s called in english. some colour spots in this gerey weather.
nature is still in winter sleep although we saw first signs that spring is not far anymore.

towards the sun

dear m.,
dresden sounds wonderfull. there is nothing better than a short interuption in every day life.

i finished my exames in between. than i directly helped dear j. as you did too, for his jury. a nice breakfast with a. the next day and than an old old friend form germany came for a short visit. she needed some change , too. it was nice to have her around. we visited my parents, aunt, brother an dcousin in liege. i love those short family vacations. one day. a meeting in between. it's always really relaxed.

i made a bigger owl. a pillow. actually i had to read those 200 pages of philosophie but an owl pillow seemd to be so much more fun...

/IMG_1082.JPG">

those flowers express so much the feeling i have at the moment. just always turn your head towards the sun. a real longing for sunrays and warmth... now it's grey again but we had a real sneak peak of spring the last week.

see you in a bit for coffee,
and some catching up about the party last night
kisses

Dresden!

Dear S.,

Dresden!! I loved it! These few days away from any of my homes were just great! We spent days of bright sun and blue skies strolling around, going to the Opera, drinking coffee and tea, sitting at G.'s kitchen table, laughing a lot, singing "What's up" at three in the morning. hmmmm, I enjoyed to live an utterly different kind of life for a few days.
Most astonishing thing about the city: it is so spacious. you don't get the feeling of being narrowed in by the buildings, the streets are broad and the many squares are vast. And so on. Summed up: We all had a great time.
some impressions, voila:

skyline! amazing sunsets at the Elbe every single day.

breakfast! fantastic german bread with cheese :)

Lovely A. at the kitchentable, enjoying heart tea

Some of the heart teabags we made

Ha! This is especially for you: A picture of one of the postcards in the kitchen. love it :)

Spread the love at the Elbe! After A.'s stop-motion-film project.

holidays are good for me. On monday, the second semester starts. My feelings towards it are scceptical- as most of the time when something new is ahead. What I wish for: less of "same-same" in our lives. And an atelier :p.
Are you in?

Love,
M.

cylindric!

... or something the like, at least ;)

well, here's the cylindric-y pencil case for M. He bought the fabric ages ago but I kind of forgot about the request until now. I made a small owl embroidery on the side, I hope he will like it as much as you did, my dear S.!

M.
Dear S.,

hello from the graydays. I am so glad January is done by today. February promises more peacefulness, somehow. I don't quite know why, but it feels like that. January was just wild. Yesterday I looked outside the window at 6pm and the sky wasn't yet fully dark.. a small moment of joy, I tell you! I miss my home these days. After being in Austria for a whole month, it can be hard to be back here. N is extremely busy, as always. It is such a miracle how people can have such different values and goals in life. At the moment, there is no Uni, so I have time.
But what on earth do I do with it?! phhh. not much, really.

Ok, I'll stop with my lamentations. Here are some pics

Buchteln! a kind of brioche dough filled with berry jam or prune jam. So nice! This is the first batch I ever made, and they were lovely

Here's Charlie with a little promise of spring: She ADORES apricots. no idea why, but she goes totally crazy about them. Here she tries to catch mine. Her latest trick: she always sleeps on the working table, and when she smells or sees something she wants to have, she yawns and stretches her paws *accidentally* right on to the object of desire :)

same trick with the cheesecake N and I made yesterday evening:

button projects! one for the wall, one to wear:

And here are some of the birdies I made as decorations for my very plain white bedroom curtains.

Now I will go on with sewing. I'm trying to do a cylinder shaped pencil case for M., it takes me quite some brainsqueezes to figure out how it will work ;)

love, M.
